PANAJI: Goa Police have arrested a 21-year-old man from Karnataka for allegedly engaging in illegal matka gambling activities in the capital city.
According to police, the offence was registered on October 9, 2025, at 6:22 pm at Panaji Police Station based on a state complaint lodged by Head Constable Chandrakant R. Ghadi.
At around 4:40 pm on the same day, the accused, identified as Kishor Kashinath Chavan, aged 21 years and a resident of Chalami, Yazeri, Bijapur, Karnataka, was caught red-handed near Ritz Classic, Panaji, while allegedly accepting matka bets from the public in an open place.
Police seized cash amounting to ₹1,220 and other matka gambling materials from the accused’s possession. He was arrested at 7:01 pm and later released on bail at 7:06 pm, after observing all Supreme Court guidelines pertaining to arrest and bail procedures.
The investigation is being carried out by HC Chandrakant R. Ghadi of Panaji Police Station, and further investigation is in progress.
