PANAJI: The Cyber Crime Police Station, Goa, has arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly sexually harassing, blackmailing, and extorting his former girlfriend by misusing her private photos and videos.
The case was registered on 28 November 2025 under Crime No. 43/2025, invoking Sections 75, 77, 79, 308 & 356 of the BNS, along with Sections 66-C, 66-E, 67 & 67-A of the IT Act. The complaint was filed by a woman from Caranzalem, originally from Nepal.
According to police, the accused — identified as Kuber Sunar, a waiter residing at Grant Palace Hotel, Dharwad, Karnataka — allegedly used multiple mobile numbers and fake identities, including Oscar D’Souza, Subhash D’Souza, and Niranjan, to obtain the victim’s private images while they were in a relationship.
After the relationship turned sour, the accused allegedly created fake Instagram and Facebook accounts under the name “Bhumi Dangaura” and circulated the woman’s private photos and videos to her friends. Police said the accused also demanded sexual favours and extorted ₹35,000, which the victim transferred to two bank accounts via UPI. The harassment reportedly pushed the woman to the point of attempting to slit her wrist.
Following a detailed technical investigation, the police traced the accused to Dharwad, Karnataka. A team led by PSI Navin Naik, PC Karol Ibrahim, and PC Yash Kole, under the supervision of SP Rahul Gupta, IPS, ASP B.V. Shridevi, IPS, LPI Anushka Pai Bir, and PI Deepak Pednekar, apprehended him.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to committing the crime “to take revenge” on his ex-girlfriend.
He has been produced before the court and remanded to police custody. Further investigation is underway under LPI Anushka Pai Bir of the Cyber Crime Police Station, Goa.
