CALANGUTE: Calangute Police has arrested a 42-year-old man for allegedly accepting matka bets in an open public area near the Sea Food Junction at Naikawado, Calangute. Acting on the complaint of Head Constable Sudatta Khadpe, police conducted a raid between 7.30 pm and 8.45 pm and caught the accused, Imamahusen Bepari, a resident of Gaurawado, Calangute, red-handed while collecting bets from local residents. Police seized a matka slip book, two pieces of blue carbon paper, a ball pen, and ₹2,050 in cash in various denominations from his possession. The offence was registered at 9.55 pm at Calangute Police Station. Further investigation is being carried out by Head Constable Sudatta Khadpe.
