MAINA: The Maina Curtorim police have arrested a resident of Rumdamol, Davorlim, in connection with the alleged sexual assault and abuse of a minor girl.
The incident came to light after the victim’s mother filed a formal complaint detailing the ordeal her daughter suffered on April 7, 2026, at a location in TNK, Davorlim.
The accused, is originally from Mysore, Karnataka, but had been residing in the Rumdamol area of Davorlim.
Following the report, the police acted swiftly to take accused into custody to prevent any interference with the investigation.
The case is currently being handled by Lady Police Sub-Inspector (LPSI) Veronica Coutinho of the Maina Curtorim Police Station. Authorities have registered the case under the stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
While the investigation remains in its preliminary stages, police officials confirmed that all necessary legal and medical protocols are being followed to ensure a thorough probe. The accused is expected to be produced before the court shortly as LPSI Coutinho continues to gather evidence and record further statements.
