CALANGUTE: Calangute Police arrested a 29-year-old man from West Bengal after allegedly finding him in possession of suspected ganja during a late-night narcotic raid at Porbawado, Calangute.
According to police, the raid was conducted between 10:55 pm on April 9 and 1:40 am on April 10 at an open place near Bodkewod junction, Porbawado, Calangute, Bardez. The action was initiated on a state complaint filed by PSI Prajit Mandrekar of Calangute Police Station.
During the search, the accused, identified as Mohammad Kader Khan, resident of Thakur Colony, Titagarh Khardah (M), North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, was allegedly found in illegal possession of greenish leafy, flowery and fruity tops suspected to be ganja weighing 1,380 grams, valued at approximately ₹1.30 lakh. The contraband was attached under a search and seizure panchanama.
Police arrested the accused at 4:51 am on April 10 and lodged him in the police station lock-up after observing all Supreme Court guidelines. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Vishwajit Dhavalikar of Calangute Police Station.
