ANJUNA: A 33-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a group of 10 to 15 individuals near Aqua Sol Resort in Badem, Assagao after he confronted them over unnecessary honking, according to a police complaint filed at Anjuna Police Station.
The incident occurred on the evening of June 4, 2025, at around 6:30 PM. The complainant, Inacio Fernandes, a resident of Zor Waddo, Anjuna, told police that he was passing by the area when he questioned the group of unidentified persons for excessively honking. In response, the group reportedly surrounded and restrained him.
According to the FIR (Crime No. 90/2025), while Fernandes was recording a video of the incident on his phone, he was physically assaulted by the group, resulting in bodily injuries. One of the assailants allegedly snatched his phone, issued threats, and forced him to delete the video evidence.
Anjuna Police have registered the case under Sections 126(2), 115(2), and 351(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), dealing with unlawful restraint, criminal intimidation, and assault with common intention.
Further investigation into the matter is underway. Police are in the process of identifying the accused individuals, who reportedly fled the scene after the attack.
