PORVORIM: A 44-year-old resident of PDA Colony, Porvorim, was assaulted by three men late on Saturday night after he objected to them consuming alcohol in a public place near his residence.
According to police, the incident occurred on January 11, 2026, at around 9.10 pm near Joybees Wine Shop in Porvorim. The victim, Mihir Agshikar, residing at House No. 403/310, PDA Colony, was attacked when he requested a group of men not to drink alcohol in public.
Police investigations revealed that the accused had purchased liquor from a nearby wine shop and were consuming it in the open. When Agshikar objected, the trio allegedly abused him with filthy language and assaulted him using slaps, blows and a stone, causing him simple injuries.
Police have identified all three persons involved in the attack. One of the accused, Suman Thapa (31), son of Taccha Maya, employed as a room cleaner at Ubra Guest House in PDA Colony, has been arrested so far. Efforts are underway to nab the remaining two accused. Further investigation is in progress.
