PONDA: A man was assaulted by a group of persons, including being hit on the head with a glass soft drink bottle, at Curti in Ponda on Sunday evening.
According to Ponda Police, complainant Asif Mohamed Shaikh Surab, a resident of Curti, stated that the incident occurred on March 23 at around 6:30 pm at Bazar Moll, Curti. The accused — identified as Mulla Abdul Karim Mujawar, Ibrahim Ali Shaikh and four other unknown persons — allegedly formed an unlawful assembly and confronted the complainant for intervening in a previous quarrel.
Police said one of the unknown accused punched the complainant on his face. Subsequently, two other unknown persons along with accused Ibrahim Ali Shaikh allegedly pushed him to the ground and assaulted him with slaps. While the complainant attempted to escape, accused Mulla Abdul Karim Mujawar allegedly came from behind and struck him on the head with a Dew soft drink glass bottle, causing injuries.
Ponda Police have registered a case, and further investigation is being conducted by LPSI Anjali Dhulapkar.
