MARGAO: Margao Town Police Station has registered an offence following a complaint filed by Rohan Chavan, a resident of Aquem Baixo.
As per the complaint, on February 19, 2026, at around 11.50 pm, the accused Francis Fernandes, who resides in the same neighbourhood, allegedly pushed, abused and assaulted the complainant with slaps and fist blows near his residence when the complainant had gone to meet a friend, Madhukar Gawande.
Police said the accused later, along with his brother Prince Fernandes, proceeded in a Thar Jeep to the house of the complainant’s relative, Sahil Jadhav, at Shantinagar. The accused allegedly trespassed into the house and, acting with common intention, assaulted the complainant with a chopper on the back of his head.
The complainant also alleged that his iPhone mobile phone worth approximately ₹60,000 was damaged during the incident and that the accused abused his relatives using filthy language.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Shubham Gaunkar of Margao Town Police Station.
