ZUARINAGAR: In a late-night incident at Argentina Bar in Birla, Zuarinagar, a verbal altercation turned violent when a man was allegedly attacked with a knife, leaving him seriously injured.
According to the complaint filed by Shekappa Gaudar, a resident of Birla, Zuarinagar, the incident occurred on October 6, 2025, around 11:30 pm. The accused, identified as Kallappa Payannavar, a resident of Upasnagar, Sancoale, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, picked up an argument with the complainant outside the bar.
Police said that during the heated exchange, Payannavar allegedly abused the complainant in filthy language and, in a fit of rage, attacked him with a knife, inflicting grievous injuries on his left thigh and below his chin.
The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment, and his condition is reported to be stable.
The Verna Police have registered an offence under Section 307 of the IPC (attempt to murder) and other relevant sections. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Carey Fernandes of Verna Police Station.
