Canacona: Canacona Police have registered a case of assault following a violent incident reported at Rita Bar & Restaurant, Pollem, on January 3, 2026.
According to a complaint lodged by Mahesh Gajinkar, a resident of Sadashivgadh, Karwar, the incident occurred at around 9.30 pm when the accused, Nitin Shetty, also a resident of Sadashivgadh, Karwar, allegedly attacked the complainant’s brother, Vijay s/o Dhaneshwar Gajinkar (38).
Police stated that the accused caught hold of Vijay’s neck, abused him using filthy language, pushed him to the ground and assaulted him with fist blows on his nose, face and other parts of the body.
As a result of the assault, the victim sustained a fracture injury to his nose. The accused also allegedly threatened the victim in connection with a business rivalry.
Based on the complaint, Canacona Police have taken cognisance of the offence and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Ramdas Doifode.
