MARDOL: Police have booked a man from Tivrem for allegedly assaulting and obstructing a police officer from performing his duty during an incident early Sunday morning.
According to Mardol Police, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. on October 12 at Kelbaiwada, Tivrem, when the accused, Pundalik Gaonkar, allegedly abused PSI Zaki Hussain in filthy language while the officer was on duty.
Police said the accused also threatened to kill the officer and physically assaulted him with fist blows and nail scratches on his hand and neck, besides damaging his uniform in the process.
A case has been registered against the accused for assault, criminal intimidation, and obstruction of a public servant in discharge of his duty. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Rochan Martins of Mardol Police Station.
