QUEPEM/SANGUEM: The Quepem Police have registered a case against a Sanguem resident for allegedly carrying out illegal hill cutting in Colomba village without mandatory permissions from the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department.
The offence was registered following a complaint by Vrinda Phal Desai, Planning Draftsman Grade-II and Deputy Town Planner at the TCP Department, Quepem. In her complaint, she stated that prior to October 22, 2025, at around 11 am, the accused Babaji Ladu Velip, resident of Sanguem, allegedly carried out unauthorised cutting of a sloping hill located in Colomba.
Police said the activity was undertaken in an area classified as partly Settlement Zone and partly Orchard Zone under the Regional Plan for Goa 2021, and the accused had failed to obtain necessary permission from the Chief Town Planner, making the activity illegal.
Further investigation is being carried out by LPSI Rifha Barretto of Quepem Police Station.
