NAVELIM: A case has been registered at Margao Town Police Station against a resident of Navelim for allegedly trespassing into a restricted area and obstructing election-related duties during an official programme held at the District Library, Navelim.
According to police, the complaint was filed by Ramesh Gaonkar, Additional Collector-II and District Election Officer, South Goa District. The incident occurred on November 26, 2025, during a programme held at the District Library, Navelim, Margao.
The accused, identified as Savio Coutinho, a resident of Navelim, allegedly unlawfully entered a designated area exclusively reserved for the staff of Polling Part No. 15. Police stated that he interfered with the ongoing electoral enrolment and verification process and threatened Damodar Nigari, Booth Level Officer (BLO), with dire consequences.
It is further alleged that the accused recorded videos of the BLO and obstructed him while he was discharging his lawful election duties.
Further investigation in the case is being carried out by PSI Sameer Gaonkar of Margao Town Police Station.
