VERNA: The Verna Police on registered a First Information Report (FIR) against a 23-year-old man from Baina for the alleged repeated sexual assault of a minor girl over the span of nearly two years.
The accused has been identified as Arun Chawan, a resident of Baina, Vasco.
According to the police, the complaint was filed by the victim’s 44-year-old mother. The minor, aged 15, was allegedly subjected to repeated forceful sexual intercourse by the accused between April 2024 and March 30, 2026.
The police report indicates that the offenses took place at the complainant’s residence in Sancoale and at Velsao Beach.
Verna Police have registered Crime No. under the following sections:
Section 65 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 8(2) of the Goa Children’s Act (GCA)
Sections 4 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act
The case is currently being investigated by PSI Pramila Fernandes of the Verna Police Station under the supervision of the Police Inspector Anand Shirodkar and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
