BICHOLIM: Bicholim Police have booked a 49-year-old man for gambling after he was caught accepting money bets in a public place at Mayem on Wednesday.
According to police, Head Constable Umesh S. Naik (HC 4580) lodged a state complaint stating that between 12.15 pm and 1.00 pm on January 14, 2026, the accused, Balu, son of Dattaram Chande, resident of H. No. 139/17, Shardha Colony, Mayem, Bicholim, was caught red-handed at Kelbaiwada, Mayem, while accepting cash bets from members of the public in an open public place.
During the raid, police seized cash amounting to Rs. 1,050 along with other gambling-related accessories from his possession.
Further investigation in the case is being carried out by HC Umesh S. Naik of Bicholim Police Station.
