PANAJI: Panaji Police have registered an offence against a 22-year-old man for allegedly accepting bets from members of the public at an open public place near Taleigao Band in Tiswadi.
According to police, the offence was registered on a state complaint filed by Head Constable Sainath Vaigankar (B No. 4462) attached to Panaji Police Station. The incident took place on March 14, 2026, at around 12:32 pm near Taleigao Band.
The accused, identified as Arif S/o Jahit SK (22), a resident of St. Cruz Band, St. Cruz, Tiswadi, was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting bets on numerical figures from the public.
Police seized ₹1,120 in cash in different denominations along with other gambling articles from his possession.
The accused was placed under arrest at 2:20 pm and was later released on the same day at 2:33 pm on a personal bond with one surety.
Further investigation into the case is being carried out by HC Sainath Vaigankar of Panaji Police Station.
