Panaji: Police caught a 59-year-old man allegedly accepting gambling bets from the public at Aivao in Dona Paula on Sunday afternoon.
According to police, the accused, Vishnu Gawas (59), a resident of Aivao, was caught red-handed around 1:55 pm on March 16 near Lok Priya Bar while accepting money bets on numerical digital numbers as a game of chance in an open public place.
During the operation, police seized cash amounting to ₹1,160 in different denominations along with other gambling-related articles from his possession.
The accused has been booked by Goa Police, and further investigation into the case is in progress.
