CALANGUTE: Police on Monday apprehended a man for gambling in an open public place at Naikawado, opposite Ziva Spa, Calangute. The accused has been identified as Hasan (38), son of Mechher Ali, residing at Old Aradi, Candolim.
According to Calangute Police, Hasan was caught red-handed between 1:20 pm and 3:00 pm while accepting bets from locals on numerical digit gambling. During the raid, police seized two gambling slip books, two carbon papers, a ball pen, and cash amounting to ₹2,100 in different denominations from his possession.
The accused was placed under arrest at 4:39 pm on September 8 and released two minutes later on the same day. Further investigations are being carried out by HC Prashant Chopdekar of Calangute Police Station.
