Old Goa: Old Goa Police have registered an offence against a 63-year-old man for allegedly accepting Matka bets in a public place at Chimbel on Monday.
According to police, the offence was registered at 6.47 pm on February 10 based on a complaint filed by ASI Chandrashekhar Amonkar of Old Goa Police Station. The accused, identified as Pandurang Krishna Shirodkar (63), a resident of H. No. 157, Gaulen Bhatt, Indira Nagar, Chimbel, was allegedly caught red-handed at around 2.19 pm while accepting Matka bets in an open public place near Pratiyougen Bar at Indira Nagar, Chimbel.
Police said they seized cash amounting to Rs 1,450 in different denominations from his possession along with other gambling-related articles.
The accused was arrested at 6.11 pm in connection with the crime and later released on surety at 7.47 pm the same day.
Further investigation is being carried out by ASI Chandrashekhar Amonkar of Old Goa Police Station.
