Verna: A tragic accident claimed the life of a man, Sushil Singh, after he accidentally fell into a well near his residence and later succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at GMC Bambolim.
Police received a wireless message from the Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, informing them of the patient’s death. According to the enquiry conducted by PSI Carey Fernandes of Verna Police Station, the incident occurred on July 16. Singh had reportedly left for work early that morning at around 7:00 a.m. but returned home feeling unwell and went to bed at about 10:00 a.m.
Later in the evening, his son heard him calling for help and found that he had accidentally fallen into a nearby well. With the help of neighbors and locals, Singh was rescued in an unconscious state and initially rushed to Chicalim Hospital. He was later shifted to GMC Bambolim for advanced treatment, where he passed away while under medical care.
It was further revealed during inquiry that the deceased had a medical history of diabetes and hypertension. The body has been preserved at GMC Bambolim pending further medical procedures and legal formalities.
Further investigation is being carried out by Verna Police.
