VASCO: A Vasco resident was allegedly cheated of ₹2,30,948 after an unknown person posing as a bank officer induced him to download a fraudulent mobile application.
According to the complaint lodged by Mahadev Tadel, a resident of Mundvel, Vasco, the incident occurred on 07/02/2026 at 01.28 hrs. The complainant stated that he received a call from an unknown person who impersonated himself as a bank official and convinced him to download an application by sending an APK file, claiming that it would make banking transactions easier.
After downloading the file, an amount of ₹2,30,948 was allegedly fraudulently debited from the complainant’s bank account.
Vasco police have registered an offence under Section 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Mayur Sawant of Vasco Police Station under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
