Margao: A case of cheating has been registered at Margao Town Police Station after a man was allegedly duped of Rs 2.07 lakh by unknown persons on the pretext of providing a job on a ship.
According to the complaint filed by Tejas Jadhav, a resident of Calconda, Salcete, originally from Pune, Maharashtra, the incident occurred between January 26 and February 12 at Calconda, Margao.
The complainant stated that the accused persons allegedly showed him fake documents and shared fabricated ship details, promising employment onboard a vessel. Believing the offer to be genuine, he transferred a total amount of Rs 2,07,000 through multiple transactions.
However, the accused allegedly failed to provide the promised job and subsequently stopped responding, thereby cheating the complainant.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Swadesh Dessai of Margao Town Police Station.
