Zuarinagar: A 27-year-old man died of electrocution while playing Holi at his residence in Zuarinagar on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, Verna Police received a phone call from Sub District Hospital (SDH) Chicalim at around 1:48 pm on March 4 informing that a person had been brought dead in a suspected case of electric shock.
Police later identified the deceased as Dileep Gaud (27), a resident of Birla, Zuarinagar in Sancoale and a native of Uttar Pradesh.
During inquiry, it was revealed that Gaud was playing Holi at his residence and had lifted a metal pipe measuring about 6.5 metres in length to connect it to a water tap. However, he allegedly failed to notice a high-tension electric wire overhead and the pipe came in contact with the wire.
As a result, electric current passed through his body, leading to his death.
Police conducted the inquest panchanama and the body has been preserved at the South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for medico-legal formalities.
