VERNA: In a disturbing incident reported from Verna on June 3, 53-year-old Cedric Menezes Gama was arrested after he allegedly fired three rounds from his licensed firearm following a dispute with his younger brother.
According to the complaint filed by Wilfred Menezes Gama, a resident of Verna, the accused—his elder brother Cedric—threatened him with dire consequences due to ongoing strained relations between the two. Cedric then allegedly retrieved his licensed weapon and discharged three gunshots in a rash and negligent manner, endangering the lives and safety of the complainant, his family, and others in the vicinity.
Following the incident, Cedric Menezes Gama was taken into custody and booked under Section 351(2) and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 25(9) of the Arms Act. The court has since granted him bail.
PSI Rajdatt Arsekar of Verna Police Station is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
