PERNEM: Pernem Police have registered an unnatural death case following the death of a man who allegedly committed suicide at Korgao village in Pernem taluka.
According to police sources, on December 23, 2025, at around 12.50 pm, Pernem Police received a phone call from the Sarpanch of Korgao Panchayat, Devidas Nagvekar, informing that a person identified as Siddheshwar Gawde, a resident of Gawdewada, Korgao, had reportedly committed suicide by hanging at his residence.
The deceased was rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Tuem, by his family members in a 108 ambulance, where the medical officer declared him brought dead.
In this connection, Pernem Police have registered Unnatural Death (UD) No. 16/2025 under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Police conducted an inquest panchanama in the presence of two panch witnesses.
Preliminary enquiry has revealed that the deceased was reportedly mentally disturbed for the past few days. Further investigation is in progress at Pernem Police Station.
