PONDA: A 30-year-old man was found dead at his rented residence in Kavle, Ponda, on Sunday morning.
Police said they received a call at around 7:09 am on September 14, informing about the incident. Upon reaching the spot, officers found the deceased, identified as Sanjay Kundekar, a native of Chandgad, Maharashtra, hanging from a wooden rafter in the kitchen of his rented room.
His wife, Nikita Kundekar, told police that the family had been facing financial difficulties due to bank loans.
An inquest was conducted, and postmortem examination at South Goa District Hospital confirmed the cause of death as asphyxia due to hanging. The body was later handed over to the family for final rites.
Further enquiry is being conducted by PSI Sushant Gaonkar of Ponda Police Station.
