ANJUNA: A 27-year-old man was found hanging from a tree in a jungle area behind a resort in Anjuna on Sunday morning, with police stating that no foul play is suspected at this stage.
According to police, a call was received from PCR Panjim at around 7:48 am on March 23, 2026, informing that a male person was found hanging from a tree in the jungle behind Anjuna Blue Resort. PSI Saish Shetgaonkar along with police staff rushed to the spot and found the man hanging from a jamun tree using a nylon rope.
Police said liquor bottles were also found lying at the spot. The services of the 108 ambulance were utilised, and the man was declared dead at the scene.
During inquiry, the deceased was identified as Rohit, 27, son of Premgiri Goswami, residing near Oxford Supermarket in Anjuna. He was originally from Gujarat Housing Board, Gondal Road, Rajkot, Gujarat. Police said the deceased was working as a front office executive at Grand Continental Hotel in Anjuna and was reportedly an orphan.
Police conducted the scene of unnatural death occurrence and inquest panchanama over the body. No foul play is suspected at present. The body has been preserved at the GMC morgue for medico-legal formalities.
