Baina: A man from Curtorim died after sustaining injuries in an accident at Baina on Tuesday morning. The deceased, identified as Constantino Colaco, was riding a Veda EV scooter when a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction reportedly collided with his vehicle near Rajshree Bungalow, Baina.
As per the state complaint filed by Head Constable Hirulal Naik of Mormugao Police Station, the incident occurred on October 28 at around 7.30 am when the accused rider, identified as Rohit Jaiswar, resident of Vaddem Lake, Vasco, rode his motorcycle in a rash and negligent manner and veered onto the other side of the road, hitting the oncoming Veda EV scooter proceeding from Ravindra Bhavan, Baina, towards Vasco.
Both riders sustained injuries in the impact. Colaco later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College, Bambolim.
Police conducted an inquest panchanama over the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. The police surgeon certified the cause of death as “injury to head, chest and abdomen with underlying vital organ damage consequent to blunt force impact from surface and/or object.” The body was handed over to family members for final rites.
Mormugao Police have registered a case under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Yeshwant Raikar under the supervision of PI Sheriff Jacques and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
