CURTORIM: Maina-Curtorim Police have arrested a Karnataka native for allegedly assaulting a woman with a koita (sharp weapon) and attempting to kill her over previous enmity.
As per the complaint lodged by Hanumant Naik, a resident of Balli, Quepem, the incident occurred on October 23, 2025, before 12:23 p.m. at Eklatti, Curtorim. The accused, identified as Yalaling Valmik Naik, a resident of Eklatti, Curtorim, and originally from Karnataka, allegedly attacked the complainant’s niece, inflicting grievous injuries.
Police said the attack stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the two parties. The victim sustained serious wounds and was rushed for medical treatment.
The accused was arrested the same day, and further investigation is being conducted by LPSI Veronica Coutinho of Maina-Curtorim Police Station.
