MARGAO: Konkan Railway Police have arrested a 25-year-old man from Uttarakhand for allegedly attempting to break open an ATM machine at Margao Railway Station in the early hours of Thursday.
Police said that around 12.03 am on August 14, the accused Rahul Kumar, son of Chandra Kumar and a resident of Nadirisipna Karanpur, Dehradun, allegedly tried to damage and open the ATM of Bank of Baroda at the station.
The complaint was lodged by Satheesh Kumar S, Senior Manager (Security) of the Bank of Baroda’s Panaji region.
Rahul Kumar was placed under arrest the same day at 7.24 pm under Section 303(2) read with Section 62 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Police said all Supreme Court guidelines were followed during the arrest.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Viplav G. Vasta of Konkan Railway Police Station.
