COLVALE: A 34-year-old man was arrested on Monday afternoon by Colvale Police for allegedly conducting illegal gambling activities in a public place near the ferry point at Camurlim, Bardez.
The accused, identified as Aginath Devendra Sasve, a resident of Maina Patto, Camurlim, was reportedly caught red-handed while accepting money from members of the public for a game of chance, commonly known as the “number game.” He was also issuing paper slips as part of the gambling operation.
Police seized cash amounting to ₹1,200 in various denominations along with other gambling-related articles from the spot.
The raid was conducted based on a complaint filed by ASI Anand Bhiv Shet of Colvale Police Station.
A case has been registered under Section 11(2)(a) of the Goa Public Gambling (Amendment) Act, 2021 under Crime No. 47/2025. The accused was arrested at 2:48 PM, following due procedure in line with Supreme Court guidelines, and was later released on bail at 3:23 PM the same day.
Investigation is being carried out by ASI Anand Bhiv Shet.
