PANAJI: The Panaji Police has booked a 47-year-old man for accepting bets in a public place.
The accused, identified as Eeshu Harikani, a businessman from Taleigao, was caught red-handed near St. Michael School, Padribhat, while allegedly accepting bets on numerical figures.
Police seized ₹1,860 in cash along with other gambling articles from his possession. He was placed under arrest at 6.10 pm and later released the same day on a personal bond and surety.
The case has been registered under Section 11(2)(a) of the Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act. Further investigation is being carried out by Head Constable Rajesh Yeshi of Panaji Police Station.
