PONDA: Acting on a tip-off, Ponda Police arrested a local resident in Borim for possessing a sizeable quantity of narcotic drugs in the early hours of Tuesday.
Police said that during a raid conducted between 4.45 am and 6.05 am opposite the Borim Village Panchayat, the accused, Sunny Naik of Borim-Ponda, was caught in possession of 1.433 kg of ganja, a narcotic substance, valued at around ₹1.43 lakh. The contraband was seized following due legal procedures under the NDPS Act.
Naik was arrested and has been remanded to three days’ police custody. Further investigation is being carried out by LPSI Anjali Dhulapkar of Ponda Police Station under the supervision of PSI Pratik Bhat Prabhu.
