ARAMBOL: In a narcotics raid conducted at the Arambol Beach parking area, police apprehended a 22-year-old man and seized nearly 6 kilograms of ganja worth around ₹5.93 lakh.
The accused has been identified as Mosin Saifi, son of Shameem Mohammad, originally from Chhijlet, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, and presently residing at Gawdewada, Morjim, near the Anti-Social Restaurant.
According to police, on the basis of specific information, PSI Sarvesh Sawant of Mandrem Police Station, along with two panch witnesses, conducted a raid between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. During the operation, the accused was found in illegal possession of 5.953 kg of greenish fruiting and flowering substance suspected to be ganja.
The contraband, valued at approximately ₹5.93 lakh, was seized under a panchanama, along with a red Suzuki Access 125 scooter (MH-02-BV-6669) used by the accused.
Police have registered an offence against the accused under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is in progress under PSI Sarvesh Sawant of Mandrem Police Station.
