Calangute: Calangute Police have arrested a 31-year-old man after seizing more than one kilogram of suspected ganja during a narcotics raid at Sinquerim in Bardez.
According to police, the offence was registered on March 7 following a complaint filed by PSI Dinesh Kanolkar of Calangute Police Station. During a raid conducted between 2.50 pm and 4.10 pm at the helipad area in Sinquerim, police found a black polythene carry bag containing a greenish leafy and flowering substance suspected to be ganja.
The contraband weighed 1,146.5 grams and is estimated to be worth around ₹1.14 lakh. The substance was allegedly found in the possession of the accused, identified as Gopal Gogoi (31), currently residing in Nerul, Bardez, and originally from Golaghat district in Assam.
The seized narcotic substance was attached under a search and seizure panchanama.
Further investigation in the case is being carried out by PSI Paresh Sinari.
