OLD GOA: Old Goa Police have registered a case after a man succumbed to injuries in a hit-and-run accident near the Kadamba Bypass Road.
According to the complaint filed by Ashwinee Naik (29), a resident of Gademand, Adpai in Durbhat, Ponda, the incident occurred on February 28, 2026 between 6:00 am and 6:30 am opposite the Fern Kadamba Hotel on Kadamba Bypass Road, Old Goa. Her husband was riding scooter GA-05-Q-1571, while she was travelling as pillion rider.
Police said an unknown driver of a white Maruti WagonR, driven in a rash and negligent manner, allegedly brushed against the scooter, causing both riders to fall on the road. At the same time, an unidentified tractor with a container attachment, which was passing by, reportedly ran over the rider’s pelvic region, resulting in severe injuries to both.
Both vehicle drivers allegedly fled the spot without assisting the injured or informing authorities. The injured were shifted to GMC Bambolim, where the complainant’s husband later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Police have registered a case against the unknown drivers, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Sanket S. Pokhare.
