ANJUNA: Anjuna Police have registered an offence against an unidentified person for allegedly impersonating an official of the Goa Pollution Control Board and cheating a Vagator-based businessman of over Rs 14 lakh.
According to police information, the complaint was lodged on February 11, 2026, at 7.25 pm by Himanshu Malhotra (34), resident of Villa D, Umravi Villas, Vagator, Bardez-Goa, and originally from Dwarka, Delhi.
In his complaint, Malhotra stated that on December 16, 2025, at around 1 pm in Vagator-Anjuna, Bardez, the accused, identified as Suraj Pendse (full details not known), allegedly impersonated himself as an official of the Goa Pollution Control Board.
The accused allegedly dishonestly induced the complainant by making false representations and assurances regarding the upgradation and renewal of the Pollution Control Board licence of Club Goya. Believing the claims to be genuine, the complainant transferred a total amount of Rs 14,23,200 through multiple transactions.
Police said the accused thereby cheated the complainant of the said amount.
An offence has been registered at Anjuna Police Station, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Sahil Warang.
