Panaji:A 38-year-old man sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a wild bear while collecting mushrooms in the forest area of Tambdi Surla, located in Goa’s Sattari taluka.
The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon when the victim, identified as Gaonkar, ventured into the dense forest in search of seasonal wild mushrooms. According to preliminary reports, he was suddenly attacked by the bear and suffered multiple injuries.
He was rushed to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) in Bambolim, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Forest Department officials have been alerted and are expected to visit the site for inspection. Authorities are likely to assess the situation and implement precautionary measures to prevent similar incidents in the area.
