COLVA: Colva Police have registered an FIR against a man from Varca for allegedly setting fire to two scooters belonging to his wife and son following a family dispute.
The incident occurred on October 5, 2025, at around 3:30 a.m., when the accused, Damodar Kolkar, a resident of Varca, allegedly set ablaze an Activa scooter owned by his wife, Vinanti Kolkar, and a TVS Ntorq scooter belonging to their son.
The fire caused a total estimated loss of around ₹2.2 lakh. The complainant further stated that the accused threatened her and their son with dire consequences, including threats to kill them, over ongoing family issues.
Based on her complaint, Colva Police registered an offence under Sections 324(5) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The investigation is being carried out by Head Constable Sameer Shet Marathe of Colva Police Station.
