PANAJI: The fifteenth day of the Goa University Inter Collegiate Cricket Men’s Championship 2025 to 26 featured two competitive matches, with VPS Mandrem College, Mandrem and Goa Medical College, Bambolim registering important victories.
In the first match of the day, VPS Mandrem College, Mandrem defeated SS Dempo College, Cujira Bambolim by eight wickets in a convincing run chase. After winning the toss, SS Dempo College opted to bat first and posted 163 for eight in their 20 overs. Ishan Singh top scored with a quick 47 from 25 balls, while Shivank Desai contributed 35 from 30 deliveries to help set a competitive total. Siddharth Karpe was the pick of the bowlers for Mandrem College with figures of two for 16, while Pranay Sopte chipped in with one wicket for 21 runs.
In response, VPS Mandrem College chased down the target comfortably, reaching 164 for two in just 16.4 overs. Atharv Chandure delivered an outstanding performance with a blistering century, scoring 100 runs from only 49 balls to anchor the innings. Siddharth Karpe also played a key supporting role with 45 runs from 33 balls. Sarvadnya Desai and Aryan Mashelkar picked up one wicket each for Dempo College. Atharv Chandure was named Player of the Match for his match winning knock.
The second match saw Goa Medical College, Bambolim defeat Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi by eight runs in a closely fought contest. Batting first after losing the toss, Goa Medical College scored 145 for six in their allotted 20 overs. Jarvis Faleiro led the batting with 49 runs from 37 balls, while Arsh Sardesai added a valuable 37 from 22 deliveries. Narayan Sawant impressed with the ball for the engineering side, claiming four wickets for 15 runs, while Tushar Ghatwal took one for 16.
Chasing 146 for victory, Goa College of Engineering fell short and finished at 137 for nine in their 20 overs. Smit Dalvi scored 48 runs and Shreyash Usgaonkar contributed 32, but the team could not cross the target. Arsh Sardesai and Jitendra picked up two wickets each to secure the win for Goa Medical College. Sardesai was named Player of the Match for his all round performance.
The championship continues on March 25 with Government College Borda, Margao facing Parvatibai Chowgule College, Margao at 9.30 am, followed by G R Kare College of Law, Margao taking on G V M’s College, Farmagudi at 1.30 pm.
