PORVORIM: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte hailed a local youth who rescued a Netherland-based tourist who was attacked by a hotel staff at Morjim. “This is the spirit of us Goans. I hail the local youth who went to the rescue of a Netherland-based tourist who was attacked by a hotel staff at Morjim,” said Khaunte.
He further said that he would meet both the victim as well as the braveheart.
“Action of the Goan boy indicates the basic nature of the locals, who are helpful,” he said.
Khaunte also appreciated the quick action of the police team led by SP Nidhin Valsan, who apprehended the accused within an hour of filing the complaint.
A local Eurica Dias (42) had rushed to the rescue of a Netherland-based woman tourist who was attacked by hotel staff Abhishekh Verma with a knife on the intervening night of March 29-30.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said Eurico Dias, who foiled a rape attempt on the Dutch woman by a hotel staff Abhishek Verma, will be awarded.
