Pernem: Swift action by Pernem Police led to the arrest of a chain snatcher and recovery of a stolen gold mangalsutra worth ₹1.8 lakh within hours of the crime.
According to police, the incident occurred around 10:30 am on Thursday at Parabwada, Torxem, Pernem. An unidentified man riding a silver-coloured scooter (bearing registration No. GA-03-7514) allegedly snatched a 20-gram gold mangalsutra from a woman while she was walking and fled the scene.
The victim, a resident of Pernem, immediately reported the incident to the police. Acting swiftly, the police launched a search operation and managed to apprehend the accused in a short time. The stolen mangalsutra was recovered at the instance of the accused.
