Panaji: The stage is set for an exciting finish at the 7th Mangeshi All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, being held at V.D. & S.V. Wagle High School as part of its Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Organised by the Mangirish Vidyadayini Samstha in collaboration with the Wagle High School Diamond Jubilee Celebration Committee and under the aegis of the Goa Table Tennis Association, the tournament has seen intense competition across all categories.
In the Boys U11 category, top seed Ishaan Colaso will face second seed Ashank Dalvi in a much-anticipated final. Ishaan stormed into the title clash with straight-game victories, defeating Kabir Dixit 3-0 in the quarterfinals and Shreyst Rane 3-0 in the semis. Ashank too was in top form, registering clinical 3-0 wins over Kavin Hasija and Aarish Shaikh.
The Girls U13 final will see third seed Tisha Shaikh taking on second seed Aarna Lotlikar. Tisha caused a major upset by defeating top seed Sachi Dessai 3-1 in the semis, while Aarna edged past joint top seed Aayushi Amonkar in a thrilling 3-2 encounter.
In the Girls U15 category, top seed Ishita Colaso booked her place in the final with commanding 3-0 wins over Inara Dsouza and Aayushi Amonkar. She will face Aarna Lotlikar, who displayed nerves of steel to win her quarterfinal against Sachi Dessai 3-0, followed by a nail-biting 3-2 semifinal victory over Kavya Khalap.
With the finals lined up, the spotlight is firmly on Goa’s rising young paddlers, promising a fitting finale to a tournament that has brought together the state’s best talent.
