PANAJI: Goa secured a dominant 146 run victory against Jammu and Kashmir in the Colonel C K Nayudu Under 23 Elite Tournament, wrapping up the four day fixture inside three days at the Hostel Ground in Jammu.
Set a target of 267 for victory, Jammu and Kashmir faltered under sustained pressure and were dismissed for 120 in 30.1 overs in their second innings. Manish Kakode once again proved decisive with the ball, claiming 5 for 28 to add to his six wicket haul in the first innings and finish the match with outstanding figures of 11 for 77.
Earlier, Goa resumed their second innings at 24 without loss and were bowled out for 192 in 71 overs. Shaantanu Nevagi, who had struck a century in the first innings, anchored the effort with a composed 64 off 122 deliveries, including eight boundaries. Opener Sarthak Bhike contributed 34, while Dishank Misquin remained unbeaten on 20. Kakode chipped in with 19 valuable runs. For the hosts, Praful Dhar led the bowling effort with an impressive 6 for 53.
Jammu and Kashmir’s chase began on a disastrous note as Yash Kasvankar trapped Basit Nazir leg before wicket with the very first ball. The other opener, Aakash Bhat, was also dismissed without scoring, leaving the side reeling early. Arnav Gupta offered resistance with a fighting 52, and Rydham and Basit Bashir added 18 each, but the batting lineup failed to build lasting partnerships.
Kasvankar finished with 3 for 26, while Samarth Rane supported Kakode with 2 for 40 to seal the win.
In the first innings, Goa had posted 286 before dismissing Jammu and Kashmir for 207, a total later revised to 212 following penalty runs. The comprehensive result underlined Goa’s all round dominance in the contest.
