New Delhi: Head coach Manolo Marquez has officially announced the 28-member India squad that will travel to Thailand and Hong Kong for two crucial fixtures in June. The team will first play a FIFA international friendly against Thailand on June 4 at Thammasat Stadium in Pathum Thani, followed by a vital AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers Final Round match against Hong Kong on June 10.
The squad, which has been training in Kolkata since May 19, includes all 28 players from the ongoing camp. The team is set to depart for Thailand on the evening of May 28, and will leave for Hong Kong a day after their match against Thailand. During their preparation in Kolkata, the Blue Tigers completed six days of rigorous training, consisting of morning gym workouts and evening sessions on the pitch. They also played two practice matches — a 2-1 win against Santosh Trophy champions Bengal, with goals from Brandon Fernandes and Ashique Kuruniyan, and a 3-0 victory over North 24 Parganas, with goals from Sunil Chhetri, Chinglensana Singh, and Udanta Singh.
The 28-man squad features a mix of experience and youth. Goalkeepers named include Hrithik Tiwari, Vishal Kaith, Gurmeet Singh, and Amrinder Singh. The defensive lineup consists of Naorem Roshan Singh, Rahul Bheke, Chinglensana Singh Konsham, Anwar Ali, Boris Singh Thangjam, Sandesh Jhingan, Asish Rai, Subhasish Bose, Mehtab Singh, and Abhishek Singh Tekcham. Midfielders in the squad are Suresh Singh Wangjam, Mahesh Singh Naorem, Ayush Dev Chhetri, Udanta Singh Kumam, Lalengmawia Ralte, Liston Colaco, Ashique Kuruniyan, Brandon Fernandes, and Nikhil Prabhu. The forward line is led by veteran striker Sunil Chhetri, along with Edmund Lalrindika, Manvir Singh, Suhail Ahmad Bhat, and Lallianzuala Chhangte.
Supporting Manolo Marquez in the coaching staff are Assistant Coaches Mahesh Gawali and Benito Montalvo, Goalkeeper Coach Marc Gamon, and Strength and Conditioning Coach Jose Carlos Barroso. The team will be aiming to build momentum from their recent form and secure a strong start to the AFC Asian Cup qualifying campaign.
