MAPUSA: The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court in Mapusa on Thursday ordered that a mattress be provided to Ajay Gupta, one of the co-owners of the Birch by Romeo Lane establishment, after taking into account his latest medical reports. The court also extended his police custody by four more days.
At the same hearing, the court sent the remaining five accused in the case to judicial custody for a period of 14 days.
Gupta was produced before the court along with five others, including Rajiv Modak, the chief general manager; Priyanshu Thakur, gate manager; Rajveer Singhania, bar manager; Vivek Singh, general manager; and Bharat Kohli, who handled the day-to-day operations of the establishment on behalf of the owners.
During the proceedings, Gupta’s counsel placed before the court a detailed submission raising concerns, particularly related to his health condition. Considering the plea, the court directed that Gupta be medically examined at the North District Hospital. He was subsequently referred to the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim for further evaluation.
Based on the medical opinion, which indicated a back-related ailment, the court ordered that a mattress be provided to Gupta while he remains in custody.
Meanwhile, the four managers and Bharat Kohli were remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
