MAPUSA: The Mapusa JMFC Court on Friday granted bail to accused Ajay Gupta in a case registered by the Mapusa Police for allegedly forging documents to obtain an excise licence for the Birch nightclub and cheating the authorities.
According to police sources, Gupta was booked for submitting allegedly fabricated documents to secure the licence, following which an offence was registered and the matter was placed before the court. After hearing the submissions, the JMFC court allowed the bail application.
Meanwhile, in connection with the Birch nightclub fire case, another accused, Saurav Luthra, was taken to the Mapusa District Hospital for medical examination. X-rays of his knee and ribs were conducted. He was also examined at Asilo Hospital as part of the medical procedure.
Police officials said further details in both matters are awaited as the investigations are ongoing.
