MAPUSA: Deputy Speaker and Mapusa MLA Joshua De Souza on Wednesday chaired a detailed meeting to push forward the proposed refurbishment of the Mapusa Municipal Market, emphasising a people-centric and stakeholder-driven approach to the project.
De Souza said the redevelopment would be undertaken in a phased manner to ensure minimal disruption to daily business while incorporating suggestions from all stakeholders to create a vibrant, modernised marketplace.
The meeting was attended by officials of GSUDA, Mapusa Municipal Council Chairperson Priya Mishal, Vice-Chairperson Prakash Bhishet, Chief Officer Chandrakant Shetkar, councillors, the Market Committee Chairman, market engineers and inspectors.
Also present were BJP Mapusa Mandal President Yogesh Khedekar, architect Ashwinikumar Prabhu, and representatives from the Mapusa Merchants Association, All Goa Merchants Federation, Mapusa Bakers, Mapusa Flower Market, and the All Goa FMCG and Telecom Distributors Associations.
The MLA stressed that stakeholder participation would remain central to the planning process as the project progresses.
