MAPUSA::In a coordinated narcotics operation, Mapusa Police arrested a 25-year-old man after he was allegedly found in possession of a substantial quantity of Ecstasy worth approximately ₹20 lakh.
According to the police, the raid was conducted in the early hours of December 10, 2025, following prior intelligence received the previous evening. At around 1:00 am, PSI Dattaprasad Pandit of Mapusa Police Station, along with his team, carried out the operation at the parking lot of the New KTC Bus Stand in Mapusa.
During the raid, the accused — Umar Kacchi, son of Faruk Gaffar Kacchi, resident of Freitaswado, Canca-Verla, Bardez — was allegedly caught red-handed. Officers recovered 20 grams of a narcotic substance suspected to be Ecstasy, estimated to be worth ₹20,00,000 in the illegal market.
Police also seized ₹500 in cash and a Tata Safari SUV (GA 04 E 7742) believed to be linked to the accused. The seizure was carried out in the presence of panch witnesses, and a detailed panchanama was conducted on the spot.
Mapusa Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to determine the source of the drugs and possible links to a wider supply network.
